What is the matrix? I mean, nothing to do with the Keanu Reeves
movie, but the idea that we are all stuck in some sort of grid. Even
from a Christ perspective, there seems to be a matirx. Have any books
been written about this? I read a book recently about portals and it
was fascinating.

All of the present day religious texts and scripts were
in the days of their origin the "science fiction" of those
days. Of course not all made it to the present, and modifications
have been made throughout history, but the beat goes on,
as turtoni's youtube selection portrays and your experience
with the portal book.

Lots. Just look closer rather than further:
=====================================
His million-selling book The Hidden Persuaders, about media manipulation
of the populace in the 1950s was a forerunner of pop sociology.
In The Hidden Persuaders, first published in 1957, Packard explores the
use of consumer motivational research and other psychological techniques,
including depth psychology and subliminal tactics, by advertisers to
manipulate expectations and induce desire for products, particularly in
the American postwar era. It also explores the manipulative techniques of
promoting politicians to the electorate. The book questions the morality
of using these techniques.

It is hard to comprehend the amount of money, time and energy (labor)
that corporate-government has put into and is putting into manipulating
social behavior. Popular culture is it's matrix.

The group consciousness, or universal mind.
Each brain sends out an energy field, and they all interact.
An analogy would be that of the ocean composed of individual atoms.

This is why the movie was so far reaching in scope. The question itself of
the various matrixes we exist under. I think a synonym to matrix would be
'illusions'. So the question might be better simplified and understood as a
question, 'What illusions do we exist under today'? And there would be
many; perhaps all of it.
