Attempts at 'ennobling' might be also mentioned here. cleaning lady =
Domestic engineer. Garbage truck = Waste Management Vehicle.
One with 'Handicap' becomes one with a 'Challenge'.

Counter Sexism; an actress is now an actor. spokesman, spokesperson
And so forth..

However in more modern times, the PC concept is being used as a mark of
noble persecution. The ridiculous thing that genuine clarity must bare up
under.

Rush Limbaugh has made a lucrative living off of this. Others have
followed. No powerful, PC, oppressive 'liberal press' (a PC term, imo),
no Rush and no Rush clones.

The 'Meta' to PC is being persecuted or to claim it. It's the
precondition to true PC either as a member of the persecuted group or as
an advocate for a 'weaker' group.

As far as Orwell goes.. PC is too crass, too obvious and just small
potatoes, I think. The Orwellian concept is better illustrated by what
both the 'liberal press' and the one's being so persecuted by it have in
common.
