This is one of the more important discussions on this NG. In my own
thinking, it all comes down to this question as a central fulcrum upon which
to base an ongoing philosophy of life [one way or another; with optimism,
pessimism, or hopelessness].
Consciousness must be vindicated as 'real' in, and of, itself [just to get a
rise out of you know who].
If it is an illusion, we are not real. The nihilists win. We ALL lose.
But if it's substance is material, even if only an extension of matter,
well, I think we all may need to visit our churches and synagogues at least
one more time, at least as some starting point to regain a vision of that
idea beyond our matter.
Anyway, what's the latest word on this important focus? Nerve endings
notwithstanding. Just brain waves and illusory? Or some sort of guiding
light of that matter to evolve?
