Instead, I'll try state my disagreements with your views.

The term "conservative" means exactly what it implies.
Conservatives oppose change and prefer the status quo.
Liberals see need for certain changes and are the movers
and shakers of what they see as needed changes.

And to quit all dualisms, such as "liberal vs conservative",
"Republican vs Democrat", "free will vs conservatism", "Us vs
them"????

Correct re: conservative, incorrect re: liberal.

"Conservative" has retained its meaning (though not all of its implications)
since the two terms came into use. "Liberal," however, has shifted
dramatically. "Liberal" is derived from the same root (the Latin *liber*,
"free") as "liberty" and "liberation."

The terms came into use to distinguish proponents of liberty from defenders
of the then-status quo, i.e., absolutist, "divine right" monarchy and feudal
class structure that accompanied it.
