I'm not an expert on the period, but it seems to me
that Newton could have got into trouble in England at the time
if he had published his anti-Trinitarian views.
People were still being executed in Newton's time in England
for their religious views.
Also if Newton had insulted the King as Galileo did the Pope
I doubt if his punishment would have been limited to house arrest.
I would say that Tuscany and England were both relatively liberal
at that time, as compared with almost everywhere else in Europe.
