Have you ever noticed that people you find attractive always have
beautiful speaking voices, and the opposite is also true? We men, at
least, are highly visual creatures, but somewhere along the line, a
pleasing voice has evolved as an important attraction device as well.

If they evolved a beautiful voice, they evolve a perfect body to go with it.
Or God just made them that way: either way you so choose to wish to look at
it.

These evolutionary psychologists think men are attracted to young
pretty women and women are attracted towards skill and status of men.
They also think women are better at language skills, note further down
in the past. Could the higher pitch be associated with neoteny?
Neoteny is the retention by adults of traits previously seen only in
juveniles of that species (pedomorphosis/paedomorphosis), and is a
subject studied in the field of developmental biology.
In neoteny, the physiological
(or somatic) development of an
animal or organism is
slowed or delayed.

Was it in South Africa...or maybe Austrailia, don't remember...but men with
high squeaky voices were not allowed to apply for police positions. Much of
'command' lay in the voice I surmise, and at least some authorities see the
importance of 'voice', at least as far as cops go. Can't have someone
sounding like Tiny Time [rip] ordering hardened felons, 'hands against the
wall'. Of course, there is the laugh factor perhaps, hehe.
That may be at least one disadvantage women have. Hmmm...in the same vein
that CEO's as a rule, do not promote more talented execs for reasons of
competiveness, perhaps women might tend to promote men with high squeaky
voices under their domain, LOL. That might explain at least something of
the emasculation of western civilization.
I've said all along that women are what's behind the western decline. But
it's complicated.

Also Love Stinks...
All this time you thought it was sculpted muscles, dazzling smiles and
fast cars that were surefire babe magnets. Well have we got news for you.
What really drives women wild are naturally occurring body chemicals
called pheromones.
The name pheromone comes from two Greek words pheran (to transfer) and
horman (to excite). According to Dr. Winnifred Cutler, pheromones are
“substances excreted by an animal that affect the reproductive...

Interesting . . . although I don't think it is the high pitch that is
the attraction factor . . . it's more qualitative, I think. Although I
think it's safe to say that a low-pitched, "masculine" voice is not
what we want to hear from a woman. ;-)

I remember watching a show on the Discovery channel about sexual
attraction (I think it was a valentine's day special or something).
The studies they cited showed that it's not the pecks, big biceps, or
shoulders that women are primarily interested in -- it's the good ole
derriere.
So if you men are pumping up your upper body to attract women, you may
want to hit the treadmill instead (or take up a yoga class).
