Reid, has
bundled up a large number of pending bills into one package (referred to
as an
"omnibus bill") and is seeking to get a vote on the whole package of
bills under
the name of the āCoburn Omnibus Billā (thatās the unofficial name,
officially
the bill is known as the āAdvancing Americaās Priorities Actā).
Even though the Melanie Blocker Stokes MOTHERS Act is named for a

If this bill allows the government to drug without consent we are
taking a wrong turn. What is it with these drugs and such certainty
that it is the scientifically correct thing to do? How did we survive
as a species before drugs?

Anybody have a clue when this "Mother's Act" came on the scene and
what inspired it's conception?

The pro-birthers and Co$ types seem to be in a tizzy over the fact
that some mothers develop post-partum depression or post-partum
psychosis, and those cases need medical care. Because in their
fantasy world, motherhood is perfect, nothing ever goes wrong, no
mom ever harms her children. And Andrea Yates never existed.

Well the hysteria of the original poster does not seem overly
justified by the actual study of the bill.
OTOH, we are becoming more pharmacized. It is partially due to
strong lobbying on the part of the pharmacuetical industry. How much
is due to solid science and how much do to the lobbying activities is
hard to tell.
I do know it is hard to get funding for research into new uses of
drugs that are no longer protected by patents. With the amount of
money the government spends on health research, this shouldn't be.

Quoting the article: "The FDA Confirms that "antidepressant" drugs double
the risk of suicide (at minimum) while numerous medical studies suggest the
risk of suicide and violence against others is astronomically high on an
antidepressant."
From 2X to astronomical in one step - a sure sign of a lie.
It is the discontinuation of certain anti-depressants that leads to suicidal
tendencies. A sad fact is that certain anti-depressants stop working after a
while but the patient cannot discontinue taking them because of the profound
negative effects of discontinuation. In fact, discontinuing the medication
brings about a state of mind that was worse than that being treated.
