Understanding a Bullies Mind-set ?

Author: curmudgeon

According to a social psychologist from the London School of Economics.
Nicholas Emler has gone on record as saying "That people with high
self-esteem are a menace to society."
His theory is that society's, racists, bullies, violent criminals, and drunk
drivers *DO NOT* secretly feel bad inside.

Who knows what really goes on in the mind of a career criminal?
Maybe only the now matters, and nothing else.
They may not feel that bad because they are stealing the well being
from others.

Liberals infer that miscreants feel bad because with the miscreants
feeling bad that promotes the liberal feeling good. Liberals would
rather feel good than survive.

IMO what counts is accountability of behavior, not some inferred
intent.

Let us say that what I am about to describe pertains to some but not all
career criminals. I will also use an extreme and one not so.

Murder for hire, or the hitman:

This person makes a pretty good living killing people. The people he
kills are killers themselves, this is part of his/her contract stipulation.
Even though they know that murder is a crime, they can justify this by
1) the money which is it's own justification 2) The people killed are not
good people, and 3) The killing of "bad people" is condoned by the larger
society.

There is an extension to Number 3. The hitman knows that killing bad
people is only condoned when it goes through the mechanics of a lawful
legal system. However, he also knows that the legal system is not only
without error but also it is corruptible in that it can serve injustice as
well as justice.

The insider:

Esteem and level of confidence one has about events in the world are
much more complex than just what happens in the minds of society's,
racists,bullies,violent criminals,and drunk drivers.

The Importance of Self-Esteem

...our commitment to a particular course of action can freeze or
change our attitudes, distort our perceptions, and determine the kind
of information we seek out. ...a person can become committed to a...

In most cases of these criminals, kings and presidents, I would think that
it is a real deep sense of inadequacy that results in inappropriate
compensation, leading to paranoia and other flights of fancy that makes them
dangerous. ...
