He's got a point. A flag isn't something that can accept your
pledge, or value it. Let's do away with this drivel about
pledging anything to a flag and pledge our allegiance to whom it
should belong, to our countrymen.

I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and to its
people: one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for
all.
