Time Is Getting Short

I mentioned a couple of years ago the fossil evidence that life
existed at least 3.4 billion years ago--and the presence of an oxygen
atmosphere suggests photosynthesis was already at work (thus implying
life) 3.8 billion years ago. I also mentioned that this creates an
interesting problem for evolutionists--how in the heck did this happen
so quickly?

Richard Talcott, "Earth's troubled adolescence," Astronomy, May 2008,
32-37, has one of those very nice simplified explanations of early
Earth history that Astronomy is good at presenting. The article points
out that the Earth had a catastrophic beginning, with a Mars-size
impact at about 4.52 billion years ago that stripped away the
atmosphere, created the Moon, melted the surface, and generally, would
have ruined your whole day, if you had been on Earth at the time. More
importantly, after 500 million years or so of relative calm:

What's the Intelligent Design model? Can you explain it to me please?

This is a joke, right?

It sounds more like a huge misunderstanding than it does a joke.

It must be hard on you fundies, to accept the fact that live evolved over a
few billion years, when you've only got about 6,000 to work with.

Doesn't Revelation state that the Word is not to be changed in any way
without danger of "God" bringing down plagues upon your house, or refusing
you entrance to "Paradise"?

Of course you can't accept reality. Not without admitting that the bible
has to be changed (interpreted, rationalized) in order to make it conform
to known reality. And if you do that, you're done for. What a viscous
circle your pitiful life must be.

It's a very sticky situation...

Those [scientists] insisting that Intelligent Design is dogmatic and
based upon faith freely admit that their beliefs in evolution are also
faith based, but a faith in testability, falsifiabilty and scientific
methodology with experimentation. Science can evolve and change but
Western Religion and Intelligent design cannot.
