Should we bother to start a new year with self-examination and
reflection, with "new years resolutions" or not?

I think we should. There definitely isn't any harm, and I think it is
the nature of humans to do such things, to seek opportunities to
reflect and consider and ponder. And it is healthy and necessary to
reflect on ourselves and seek ways to grow and improve ourselves.
