The Texas Polygamous Sect has been justly investigated, in my opinion,
with regard to allegations of child abuse.
However, the sect has many of the socio-political-culture attributes,
except for it's vocal opposition to militarism and war, described and
advocated for by the ancient Greek philosopher, Plato, in his book
"The Republic".
Plato, in that work, advocates many of the socio-political-culture
practices which this sect follows including the sharing of wives, the
sharing of children, and a simple and virtuous life. Again, while "The
Republic" advocates militarism, the sect clearly renounces the same.
Given the aforementioned, the sect should be protected and not
dissolved nor persecuted , in my opinion, in that it's goals and life
style, as per "The Republic " have virtuous goals and means.
Again, however, it should be closely monitored with regard to child
abuse and the freedom which it's members should have with regard to
withdrawing from the community.
That the sect attempts to emulate the socio-political-culture
postulates so enumerated by Plato should tolerated and protected in
this modern conformist nation with the proviso that the treatment of
it's members should not violate laws involving the right of members to ...

You can argue that to persuade the public to change the law.
You could also try it in a amicus brief to help the defendants on
appeal.
But the U. S. and the State of Texas has promulgated laws that must be
enforced, regardless of whether you personally like them or not.

Hominids have been around for millions of years during which sexuality
always began at puberty. It is sexual abuse to make them wait until an
arbitrary age like 18 since kids develop at different rates.
A more rational system would have the mothers, who know their own kids
best, work out with the matrons just when and what sexual activity is
for each depending on the level of development and hormones.
Note- the men are not involved in this process, other than those
selected by the women because of their sensitivity to the emotional
states of others and thereby more able to control their own sexual
responses accordingly.

Adults are also particularly susceptable to manipulation by minors who
they believe mite prove sexually gratifying. Petronius has a 12 year old
slave boy that Roman audiences thot was hilarius in how he manipulated
his master, sometimes by diddlying with the master's boyfriend.
Lotita, in contrast to the common perception, is in fact the sexual
predator who used her mom's husband to challenge her mom as to just who
could provide the most pleasure to him. And when she no longer needed
him for that, she dropped him like used hanky.
