hello jeff

i see you are still a flirt

i do not like to demonise
something called "drugs"
because there is no really accepted way i am aware of
that distinguishes this term from
all metabolically manipulative chemicals

i use ibuprofen when in somatic pain
i consume what i consider too much caffeine

many cultures use teas
to improve themselves
teas for calm thinking
teas for useful energy
teas for clear breathing during mild illness

are these drugs?

it is often impossible to distinguish
these from other foods we also consume

yams provide chemicals with estrogenic activity

even considering only "drugs"
as those with central nervous system activity
it is well known the changes in "conscious state"
due to fluctuations in blood sugar levels
or consumption of common amino acids like tryptamine

i believe that instead of making commandments
that cannot be consistent and survivable
across all chemical use
it is best to focus on the health and survivability
of the behavior involved

is one consuming alcohol
too frequently or in too much quantity
to allow repair of the liver?

is the behavior invoked
obsessive and self-destructive?

can a culture
integrate this behavior
in a way that is healthy
and promotes the survivability of the culture?

one of my intellectual heroes
richard evans schultes
laid rigorous foundations for this study across cultures
expanding ethnobotany and ethnomycology
( already latent sciences )
into scientific studies of these social structures

anyway
i think i've told you my age in the past
but in the meantime i've become 31

i was born in california
but now live in pahrump, nevada
!! with my loved one !!

i program embedded linux systems in c++ for the gaming industry
and have architected security and cryptography solutions
developed logical program verification test suites using OCaml
and more menial tasks like protocol development
device drivers
and the design of distributed servers

i have programmed in the past for a cryptography startup
where i developed security extensions to the Windows operating system
using API interception and code injection techniques

you have been a flirt for some time
subcommandante relf
so i suspect you go out on more dates
than your average usenet recluse

you do realise that makes many of them angry
because they think they're better than you

some have even taken the time to consider who bohm is
and assign some convenient mental label
( usually "crank" thesedays )
to deterministic science

-+-+-

your admiration of my studies is unneeded and unnecessary
just as mine is for yours

i have found a lot of similar people
urgent learners
who often hide some tragic past as their trigger
or have obsession disorders
or both

hiding flaws through rigorous pursuit of truths
any truths
is dangerous and can be dishonorable too

studying and practice are avoidance mechanisms too

truth-seeking is another desiring
in the language of the four noble truths
and sometimes it is necessary to face the flaws
and accept them

i hope you feel better after your cry
