The USA is very imperfect, and of course we've always been so.
A literal civil war has been fought not all that long ago.
We know we are not fault free, and therefore try to change.
Perhaps our smug, mossback types can't publicly acknowledge reality.
We do adapt, though sometimes we mal-adapt.

My observations of life draw me to conclude there is a heirarchy. Jews for
example, have given us almost every major scientific principle [at least in
the modern era]. They rise disproportionately to occupy high positions of
influence, such as in medicine and science and of course financial. This
may seem to play into stereotypes, but a thing either is or it isn't and
such observations can be very provable with numbers and statistics...and
simple common sense.
