I once found the capacity to LOVE cockroaches.
It was not easy to pull back, for the object of love matters far less than
the state itself...and the state itself is sublime.
I realized how crazy it would be to LOVE cockroaches...and forced myself to
squash the darn things just to withdraw from my madness.
The moral I found in this, is that LOVE is expansive, and our capacity, far
reaching. But the world is specific in it's space and time. LOVE...to
exist in this world, MUST take heed of what this world is about. That
probably means just a bit of respect...enough so to be able to at least
squash cockroaches [from entering one's home...or church, or nation].
Or else...as we are finding....the cockroaches WILL take over, destroying
all vestige of hope for a far more loving world down the way.
