A lot of people believe in the idea of the end of the world.
Materialists think that this is probably when we all have a global
thermonuclear war, or when global warming gets out of control,
or, somewhat more optimistically, when the Sun goes red giant, and then
white dwarf.
Spiritualists believe this means when their god or messiah comes to the
world, to make things right.
And evolutionists, like me, think that this means when man finally reaches
the next step in evolution, and becomes immortal, and finally
everything starts to work out peacefully and perfectly, and man
begins to spread his seed throughout the galaxies.
Just what does the term, "end of the world," mean to you?

Sure, that is what we mean for the moment, without giving it much thought...
...or so it seems. Maybe we put more into the idea of such things as end of
the world,
or as you say, "everything is going to hell," than we let onto.
