The Editor and Creditor

A borrower has a creditor
and a writer has an editor.
But how often are they the same?

If you lend yourself money
then yourself you will have to pay
but you can postpone the collection
until some future rainy day.

And if you edit
the things that you have wrote
then you can correct
any personal misquote.

But a writer who borrows
without giving credit or citation
will watch as his star goes
into literary obliteration.
