Let's think of an aspirin pill for a moment; you will immediately
recall the mark in the middle of it. This mark is designed in order to
help those who intake half a dose. Every product that we see around us
is of a certain design even though not as simple as the aspirin pill.
Everything from vehicles we use to go to work, to TV remotes.
"Design", briefly, means a harmonious assembling of various parts into
an orderly form towards a common goal. Going by this definition, one
would have no difficulty in guessing that a car is a design. This is
because there is a certain goal, which is to transport people and
cargo. In realization of this goal various parts such as the engine,
tires and body are planned and assembled in the plant.
However, what about a living creature? Can a bird and mechanics of its
flying be a design as well? Before giving an answer, let us repeat the
evaluation we did for the example of a car. The goal at hand, in this
case, is to fly. For this purpose, hollowed bones, strong muscles that
move these bones are utilized together with feathers capable of
suspending in the air. Wings are formed aerodynamically, and
metabolism is in tune with the bird's need for high levels of energy.
It is obvious that the bird is product of a certain design.

Story time.
Lots of story tellers recently.
Being finite, they think we can't see right through them.
Of course they can't see through themselves.
Such is the human condition.

Design, of course, is not limited to creatures. Sand can have designs
directly caused by the wind. Waves and ripples are designs in water, a
snowflake has design.
Designs are also 'created' by creatures. Humans design, so does the
beaver and the ant.
Humans think in terms of design starting with the designs in language.
Anything outside of rational design, is considered uhh irrational,
confused and hard even impossible to understand. Also, a general
indication of socially dis-functional behavior is it's lack of recognized
design.
Human understanding demands design. All things are classified, in
thought, by particular design. Differences and similarities between
design makes up what are seen as things being different, similar and the
same.

In essence the author's argument is "the organism is so overwhelmingly
complex that it is also unlikely to be the result of an accident", then
leaps to presume a grand designer, a god. Then this god is given human
virtues as in "He is the All-Wise". And finally, humankind who take this
path to understanding will make themselves the moderators of the truth
to stand in the place of this god.
This strikes me as a DEvolving process. It presumes the quick-fix answer.
Perhaps the intelligent design people would like to take the clear and
probable alternative interpretation that the 'god' is a profound unknown
which exists to instruct humankind how to humbly approach understanding
as a long-term (possibly infinite) process. During the process of
understanding humankind develops various methods, one of which has been
remarkably useful. It is called Science.

It is fairly obvious that matter could not come into existence by itself and
that minds and intelligence would precede matter.
Thus the thought process should be of what the connection is between the
minds and intelligence that did exist prior to matter and the current day
situation.
The minds, creators, intelligence and artists that pre-date matter would
have known each other a long time eh?
And their nature would hardly be of a one lone bod sitting on his own who
decided one day to not only create matter - but to also create life.
The visible nature of the artists can be seen in the clouds in the sky, in
music, the sound of the wind and rain and many other ways that show that
nature and the design is intentional.
You can see through the eyes of science, you can see through the eyes of any
religion, but far better to see only the perfection and the beauty and
travel toward perfection and beauty and leave the books and explanations
behind as the minds of the artists and creators are this way.
