Muslim medical students refuse to learn about alcohol or sexual diseases
By DANIEL MARTIN
Last updated at 15:43pm on 7th October 2007
Muslim medical students are refusing to learn about alcohol-related
illnesses and sexually-transmitted diseases because they say it goes
against their religious beliefs.
And a small number are even refusing to examine patients of the opposite
sex because they say it is forbidden by the Koran.
The General Medical Council and the British Medical Association both say
they have heard of cases of trainee doctors having religious objections.
Some Muslim students claim studying sex and alcohol related diseases is
'offensive'
But they say they did not approve of them, pointing out that a doctor
would not be able to qualify if they missed parts of their course.

Its quite simple.
All those in positions of authority in the medical profession should
all be atheists.
All attempting to follow a course of study in the sciences should sign
a statement to the fact that questions of faith should have no bearing
in decisions they make.
If that results in too few qualified doctors then all non religious
persons would be given priority treatment, all the rest can ask their
god or their local witch-doctor for a cure!!!!

Your thought process is very interesting. I'm curious is there any
instantiations of the human condition that you find objectionable.
I.E. Are you accepting of everybody no matter what they do or how
they live. If a pedophile lived next door would you attempt to
restrict their access to children in the neighborhood. If a drunkard
lived next door would you attempt to prevent them from driving. Or is
your philosophy of life "everything is okay".

Except for the fact that you have completely misinterpreted my
"thought process".
Have you lost your sense of irony or maybe you are American and don't
have one?

And lets not forget how Chistian fundementalists have successfully
lobbied the US govrnmt to stop the supply of condoms to Africa
intended to reduce the spread of AIDS. And how they have also manged
to close many health clinics in places such as Cambodia because they
provide contraception whilst others offer abortion.
In the UK the church and state are one. In the USA they have followed
a policy of disestablishment. I still find it bizarre how the church
is of such little importance in the UK whilst in the USA it seems to
call all the shots.

Be a bugger if you, the atheist surgeon, had a Christian daughter.
An interesting thought though. Similar thinking process to Marx. Best left
where you found it :-)
