One major thing that he and his follow founding father got completely
wrong: the disestablishment of the church from the state.
In the uk where the church remains part of the state apparatus, the
church and its collection of myths and delusions is under control and
hence plays no part in the working of government and its ethics do not
stall or interupt important decisions on medical research,
prostitution, pornography, ethics, homosexuality and the death
penalty. Conversely, in the USA where the churches are alowed to run
amok, they form powerful pressure groups which have far more say than
they deserve.
In the uk, Tony Blair, was the first PM who declared himself to be
religious but made little of it and never talked about god in public,
in the US any president that does not openly declare...

That's the basis of American freedom. Your error is understandable,
however. You as well as everyone else on the planet haven't been
exposed to Jeffersonian democracy.

The robber baron whore media have managed to brainwash Americans with
so many Big Lies of so many decades the U. S. has been a de facto
despotism for quite some time.

That the corp. media are the root cause is easy to determine.

They keeps saying things like, "we can't figure out why we have
fundamentalists when the rest of the western world doesn't."

I tell all Democrats: "If the media are too dumb to figure out
politics, then why listen to them?"

The bigger problem is the other way around. When the fundies get
gummint under control as in the Mideast and the Southern U. S.

Best of all is separation of religion and gummint.

The reason this has happened is that the modern bureaucratic
state is grey and soulless like a corporation can never be.
Putting religion under the guard of a modern bourgeois welfare
state makes gives it all the sex appeal of the Department of Motor
Vehicles or the Bureau of Land Management. This drives people
away from theology faster than the private sector churches ever
could. The one thing we could do is put churches on the
same footing as other corporations, so at least they pay
taxes on their prophets.
