aside from being exemplars of holy life and the divine beatitudes
the great religions of the world are also indicators of progress for
spiritual seekers

the christian has the life of jesus

1. the baby jesus - the stage of holiness for holiness's sake
2. the child jesus - bible thumping (the scholar stage of book study)
3. the young man - going forth and doing miracles and helping the
needy (keep your day job)
4. the crucifixant - stuck to the cross of realizing some people don't
want to change

the monastic life of buddha gotama

1. the cuddly fat baby
2. the curious young prince
3. the renunciant seeker in china
4. trapped in the chinese restaurants (cuddly, fat, and even more fat)

the life and not so living life of lao tzu
