That last sentence stems from one who believes argument somehow
expands consciousness.The belief (not arrogance in your case, but is
wth many) that you can actually do that ie, effect Sean's day :-).

Arguments "always" work both ways. They are a way of seeking wisdom by
confirmation/confrontation. Visionaries, in any field, including
science, always evoke antagonism. Freud 'knew' how the brain rewired
with psychoanalasys for instance, long befor the field of neuro
plasticity was discovered, with the advent of brain scanners.Others
argued with him, in he belief that the brain was affected only
biologically.He didnt need to argue, which has a significant
psychological impact on his detractors.

They invariably get 'personal' ..:-).
