Story Engineering

May I introduce the ideas of :
1. "Story Engineering"
2. "Applied Story Science"
Our stories are as real as our bridges. Just as
we practice our bridges, so too do we practice our stories.
Both bridges and stories are valid human undertakings.
It helps to have some wisdom and education in both
when it comes to actual design, construction, and
maintenance.
A good bridge (such as the Brookline bridge) and a
good story (such as a God (Genesis) story) both
serve valid functions in the human condition. Different
functions, but still very real functions, over crossing a river in one case,
casting a paradigm that meets the needs of our human brain in
the other. Both very "real". We are not fish, but we are
virtual reality creatures.

The bridge is built to get you to where you want to go, not a destination.

And the God stories?

They are built to produce mystical, religious, philosophical, etc. experiences
in the story practitioner (all brain processes). Actually putative God stories
are no different than other stories, they do rely more on personification
and leader instincts, but they are still just stories.
The thing is that any story practiced for a while will become part of our
personal brain based virtual reality and considered non virtual.

Might still makes Right. Only, now the brave heart, strong right arm,
sword in hand... no longer cuts it, and all these stories of all these
heros no longer resonates. Smith & Wesson guarantee equal rights for
smart women.

And they are taking over. And will produce another set of stories, and
replace god, quite naturally, with goddess.

Before the last 5000 years of rule by the warrior class, civilization
was dominated by women, and prime goddesses are all over.

Which is why we can each move on from the story mentality.
