Stanko was sentenced to death for killing his girlfriend and
assaulting her teenage daughter. He is awaiting another trial in the
murder of a 74-year old man for his truck.
Stanko was captured in Augusta in the spring of 2005. He had met a
local woman and had even attended church with her. He was caught after
she informed deputies where he was.
