Beating a dead horse?
In the question "why is there something instead of nothing", an answer
can be found, given the same reasoning, with the question, "Why is there
any one thing instead of another one thing"? Why, for instance, is there
a lake were a lake exists instead of a car dealership, or a tree?
If this question does not directly mirror the reasoning behind the
something/nothing question, it is the something/nothing reasoning that is
invalid. If it does, the answer becomes clearer.
