It is not clear that the methodology supports the conclusion.

Plants may absorb less CO2 in arid conditions, as the plant tries to reduce
transpiration. However, all models of global warming also predict increased
evaporation, which implies more precipitation. To test the CO2 absorption
rate at higher temps, you thus need to increase the precip accordingly. It
isn't clear from the BBC report whether that was done.
