You know Slob, you are correct, on one point. If you disagree with
your graduate advisers, about anything, they will try to make your
life very unpleasant, for fear for their own careers. They can't
really kick people out, if they really want to stay, because then they
could get into legal trouble. But, they can be very disagreeable.
One of the advantages of the internet is that opinions can be
expressed and debated freely, without fear of retaliation. Unlike in
the academic world.
