Don't all parties choose "persons of gender"? Not that I know of many
eunuchs or hermaphrodites in political office. But you never know!

My tongue was somewhere near my cheek. I was lost in the signifiers.
What I find odd is that if Palin did become vice president and then
president if McCain croaked and she appointed ultra-conservatives to
the Supreme Court that over turned Wade vs Roe, wouldn't that be a
significant achievement for women. Before you jump up and down, the
question isn't whether some political agenda is advanced but who has
the power to create that change. Me, I am far from conservative. That
isn't the issue. It's just that powerful liberal women are seen
positively and conservative women are seen as running lap dogs of the
neo-cons even though both are advancing their respective agendas. So
if Hillary had won, the culture would advanced and if Palin wins it's
just another nail in the coffin of social evolution by the Christian
right. That may make sense to some people but it don't make sense to
me.
