Residual slavemaster instincts in America

Date: May 11, 2008 16:59

Although slavery was only abolished in this country a century ago, it
existed for at least four thousand years before then. It is possible that
evolutionary adaptation brought about changes in the personalities of whites
and blacks over this long period of time. For example, whites may have
learned strategies for dealing with slaves, while blacks may have learned to
cope with enslavement.

Perhaps this would help explain some of the disrespectful attitudes and
behaviors we witness today. Over time, we may learn to adapt to a world
without slavery, a mistake we hope never to make again.

If this is Jimmy The Greek you are talking about, he said slaves where
bred to produce stronger off-spring which accounted for black athletes
having larger muscle mass. He got fired for that, I believe.

Except that slavery over the last 4K or more years did not involve
blacks and whites. It involved white-white and black-black slavery for
the most part.

And of course, there's the fact that there's no logical link between
success in reproduction and some 'trait' that has to do with being a
slave or a slave owner. There may be *cultural* differences that get
passed along culturally---for example, blacks in the US may distrust
whites because of past history, and listening to the experiences of
previous generations. This may be a coping mechanism or problematic
depending on individual situations, but it isn't genetic and it is
unlikely to result in genetic selection.

Yes, pardon me. Thank you for the correction.

How unusually strict.
