In the 60's they all said the same thing about Japanese goods.

Now they make a Lexus ... and Honda has won the F1 grand prix more than a
few times.

Anyone own a Nikon Camera? ;-)

My point? Why can't the USA make their own footwear? Too hard and
complicated? Or too beneath you?

Very few people remember that "Made in Japan" was the punch-line to
many jokes in the fifties and sixties....It signified something
cheaply made and likely to fall apart...

Who is laughing now???....

The CHINESE are mate, and will soon be the #1 powerhouse of the world, with
all the political clout that brings .... the Jap's took way too much from US
culture and forgot that asians were created to think LONG-term, so in some
respects that's why the Japanese are not as successful now as they were in
the 80's. But they are still doing ok nevertheless. There "quality" is the
envy of the world, well almost. Germans still kick ass too. ;-))

It's already taken off with a big bang .... fantastic for new beginnings but
let's not get too self-centred and touchy in the process. [ me, that is!! ]

Funny complaints... "I bought these flip-flops for $1 and I found out
they weren't worth any more than that." I really feel for them.
