Question about Ayn Rand Journal Entry

Author: Malrassic Park
Date: Aug 30, 2007 17:48

"The progression of a man's mental (and psychological) development.
(The progression of a man's consciousness.)
1. He acquires factual knowledge of objects around him, of events, and
therefore concludes that a universe exists and that he exists (through
the evidence given to him by his senses, grasped and put in order by
his reasoning mind)." March 8, 1947

Where did the concept "exist" come from?

That's a just plain stupid question. Consider the context. You cannot
pull one sentence from a body of literature and expect anyone to take

Then consider it in the context of Intro. to Objectivist Epistemology.
Or consider it in the context of Kantian metaphysics, or Nietzsche. Or
request that I post the entire journal entry. I leave these choices up
to you.
