The NRA was once a reputable sportman's association.
In recent decades the NRA has been bottom fishing for the GOP, helping
replace real political rights with the fantasy - pacifier of a gun
being an individualist "pocket veto" of public officials.
Very similar to the GOP - fundy "engine of despotism" the more GOP
economic insecurity frightens the gun nutter the more the gun nutter
fantacizes about shooting a bad guy and the more he feels safer with
his AK-47 behind the seat of his truck.
Now $6, $8 and $12/gallon fuel will make it impossible for the high
school drop outs to drive very far from their trailer parks showing
off their gun racks.
Sure gun nuts can post to the internet about assassinating bad guys
like Hitler but no one really cares about their Harliquinish level
fantasies.
Sure gun nutters can try to mainstream themselves with "pink pistols"
but no one cares about that either.
The only conclusion is gun nutterism will eventually die and maybe the
old reputable NRA will return.

I guess you are the expert on the NRA in these here parts.
Me, I haven't even looked into it, and am not even a member.
What is interesting about the argument about the Second
Amendment is that it exposes the Alice in Wonderland
Orwellianism of leftards everywhere, who can't parse a
simple sentence if to do so would bring one of their dogmas
into question.

Except you, of course. I don't even know what it is. But feel free
to extrapolate. After all, the entire purpose of your obsessions with
guns is to distract the public from vital economic issues, such as
the impending return of the lowering of the high-tax Jimmy Carter
economic stagflation boom.

Not in your lifetime.

The NRA's enormous political clout
Tuesday, April 29, 2003
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The National Rifle Association just lost its high
profile president -- actor Charlton Heston -- but the gun rights'
group shows no sign of losing its enormous political clout on Capitol
Hill.

The issue isn't mentally stable gun owners like Jimmy Carter.
The issue is $6, $8 and $12/gallon fuel will make it impossible for

Jimmy Carter? And you were making fun of Charleton
Heston for having Alzheimer's and hissing "Oh my God,
Soylent Green is people!"

Carter is a gun owner.
Just because Carter didn't know how to have a high tax economic boom
like Clinton doesn't make him a gun grabber.
