Heh. All I can say is I sure am glad Mitt is gone.
Hopefully, he'll be forgotten. We can all pray to
Joseph Smith for that one.
For some reason, I just can't stomach Friedman
much. Ever since I read a bunch of his articles
about the Indian software industry someone had
printed and stapled up on a bulletin board. Maybe
it's just that his self-interest and mine don't coincide.
But I have to love what he says here:
In a way, I would love to hear Obama say, just
for shock value: “I am so eager to do whatever
it takes to fix these problems that I am ready
to be a one-term president. Mine will not be a
presidency that is confined to the first 100 days.
But that is what we have fallen into, folks. The
first 100 days have become the only 100 days.
Once they are over, presidents are told that they
have to trim their sails to get ready for the midterm
elections, and once the midterms are over they
are told that they have to trim their sails and get
ready for the next presidential election. We can’t
solve our problems with a government of 100
days. I am going to work the hard problems the
hard way for 1,461 days.â€
That would, indeed, be frightening. An Obama
who didn't care about consequences. It would
most certainly be a one-term presidency, which
it probably will no matter what happens. Still,
I'd like to think Obama continued to be the
opportunist he has shown himself to be in the
general election. Centrism is preferable to
leftism. It's strange that people think things
are the worst they could ever be. I guess that's
nothing new. But, remember 1979, and you
will know that things can get much, much
worse.
I was surprised that Maureen Dowd wasn't more dowdy. That
pic is better than what I expected, for sure. But you also have
to admire Palin for the vitriol she inspires in the mainstream
elite media. Every accusation, even hearsay and apocrypha,
will be lifted up by them as being the reason she's the biggest
threat to Western civilization since crack cocaine. There are
those in the right hemisphere of the blogosphere who say it's
because she's far too normal for them to stomach.
And, regarding the per diem story:

"Gov. Palin has spent far less on her personal travel than her
predecessor: $93,000 on airfare in 2007, compared with
$463,000 spent the year before by her predecessor, Frank
Murkowski. He traveled often in an executive jet that Palin
called an extravagance during her campaign. She sold it
after she was sworn into office."
Where is Joe Biden's anal exam anyway? That guy just makes
me nauseas. I saw a video of him making a psychiatric
assessment against some gun enthusiast, which just brought
to mind Soviet psychiatric hospitals.

...are probably for it.
And how can the mainstream media think they can keep alive
the "she wasn't vetted" meme?

I am sure the polls on the NYT are pretty low. So
perhaps this is Bret's corpwhore conspiracy. A
kind of Judo blowback strategy to make it seem
that the effete liberals despise Palin for being too
normal. Or something. But sometimes, a cigar
is just a cigar.
