That's when being detatched is even more valuable. The only reason
someone ever gets distressed is because they are attatched, and
attatchment is always "about" the past or future.
The worst time of my life, emotionally, I was in the company of
someone who had mastered the art of detatchment. I new there and then,
that my adding to the overall pain contributed nothing to the
situation, in fact it detracted, because I missed an opportunity to be
useful.
It is one of those situations that is easy to explain, but means
little to those who have not had similar experiences.
