All people have three distinct identities, physical, mental and
primal. All past teachers of note have taught this principle. The
Hindu religion is also based on a trilogy, being Shiva (creative)
Brahma (sustaining) and Vishnu (destructive). Cosmology is always
investigating these principles. They are all encompasing.
Psychologists specializing in such disfunction as your refer to,
recognise that it is only when the situation is acknowledged
(confronted) that healing (balance) can be achieved.
Our primal (instinct) nature is triggered today, not by the potential
attack of sabre toothed tigers, but by share price crashes, or
whatever turns your key, and until this process is understood (to be
conscioius of), a person is a victim of aspects their own nature.
To know thyself, also means knowing the parts, and what their true
purpose is.
As mentioned at the beginning, each individual "has" these basic
natures, and it is only from the "I" perspective can the parts be
recognised.
Perhaps that may put more light on the parable "I" am the way the
truth and the light. So easily confused, and easily rectified.
