I've always envisioned hell not as a place, but as an experience; that
experience not being the horrible pain of fire or other tortures [bad
enough], but of the simplicity of hopelessness. I base this on my
observations of life, where if my spirits remain high, I can weather much
greater hardships and whistle while I work as it were. But then if I have
lost spirit, even the tiniest stub of a toe can bring misery beyond belief.
