My Recommendation

Author: Sir Frederick
Date: Nov 29, 2007 12:14

My recommendation is to pick some meaning giving
stories and practice them unto their becoming your reality.
That is more than what the situation offers directly.
The situation offers nothing directly, so make your pick
and apply yourself.

I come from a long background of "practicing the presence of God",
and poor white trash, and ignorant farm boy.
(There is a book with the title"The Practice of the Presence of God "
by a Brother Lawrence, circa 17th century.)

Some parts of my brain still does that.
I have also read a lot of Sci-Fi, so I find the present
space-science stuff quite entertaining.

My "last" favorite was Larry Niven.
(I went through many.)
Today I find the popular science mags
to be entertainment enough.

Ringworld -- Mote in God's Eye....

You hit one of my favorites...I read alot from the 60's thru the
beginning of the 80's..When the trend went to "sword & sorcery" I
dropped out....

If you haven't read "Deathbird Stories" (from the 70's) by Harlan
Ellison (a non-scientific SF writer; i.e. SF= Speculative fiction),
reading it may be worthwhile....
