The Muse does not offer herself to be frozen in
stone or nailed to a plank; she arrives when she pleases,
gives her commands, and departs. We take them or
ignore them as we choose. If you have not seen her,
we cannot show her to you; you will have to be
satisfied with Fashion, because that is what it
will seem to be to you.
