1-1=0 For two same things we get nothing.

Almost as interesting is

1+3-4=0 We have three different somethings we get nothing.

That's "third world" philosophy : "Symbolism over substance."
Common to all third world efforts, except fecundity.

Or: -1, being less than nothing?

But zero is not nothing. It is the number 0 which is a thing.

More fun?

There isn't a tangible -1 of any real thing other than a deficit which is
just a concept of expectation or potential. However, -1 is a numeric
tangible which means numbers, like poetry and metaphor, are not bound to
the tangible world other than by way of imagination.

People try to turn 1+1 into 2 when the answer can only be 1+1. The start of
the road of illusion.

0+1+3+4=0 though and also 0+1-3-4=0

or

0+1-3-4= -6 that is negative six.

which is it?

And often the use of numbers are very helpful.

To make things worse you mean.

NOt that your musing mean anything...
but 'zero' is not 'nothing'...but zero. Nothing in it's strictest sense is
a 'null and void'.
Zero denotes an empty set. "Nothing' erases the set altogether [the null
and void].
