Though I didnt ask his permission to post the pic. ( rather difficult
since they have no telephone or any such conveniences) I think its ok.
Its from a temple under restauration in Nam Gna, Laos. There are three
of them on a string. The first was obliterated in the 70's by Napalm.
the ground is still glassy and black. The second is completely ruined
and littered with bulletholes but still in use as the inner shrine is
intact. And the third temple is locally called the ' good luck' temple
as a bomb went through the roof but didnt explode and thats the vat
that the novice and hes teacher, an elderly munk, resides. Only those
two. I went with a friend of mine that is charged with the
restauration of the whole thing. So, now you know a little of the
context around it. Technically the photo is crap but I dont care. The
smile isnt :-)
