Other than the bunkum, are you kidding when you suggest that
Pythagoras missed the mystical significance of '8'?
I suppose you would put his understanding of the octave, and
principles of harmony (two 'notes') as coincidence?
Like many masters, although we now much of his knowledge, he was wise
enough not to write anything down, other than symbols such as the
square, compass, level etc found on the gravestones of many of his
followers, as did Socrates. Of course Plato, being the apprentice, did
attempt to write down much of the wisdom that "cannot be written" and
spawned a wave of 'professional mystics'.You can still meet them
today. They usually charge a few thousand dollars for an 'enlightening
weekend'.
He also was aware of the transmigration of the "identity" and how
wisdom is accumulated on the way, which explains an enormous amount to
those who discover subjective confirmation, and to those who
experience hostility and confrontation.
I bet if he had have been alive in the 50's he would have been in
harmony with Bridgit Bardot. That would have kept the sceptics at bay!
