Life after death

Why do people that believe in life after death seem to think it is ONE thing
that goes on for ever.
Why should the next life not be yet another existence like this one where we
live and learn and then there would be death there too and so on in
different forms.
Who knows - maybe life on Earth is the "life after death" of who we were
before this life.

I think there's a term for this..."reincarnation".

Thats closer to truth than any amount of faith.

Death consists in a permanent loss of conscious awareness. What about
temporary loss of conscious awareness? Where does our soul go then?

You mean as in sleep? Perhaps it doesn't "go" anywhere. Maybe it's just
dormant, in suspension, so to speak. To affirm the soul's "going"
somewhere implies it is subject to spacetime limitations. A soul, to
JudeaoChristians at least, is not subject to the vagaries of space or
time. A soul is eternal.

Awarness (the human kind) is necessarily inclusive of thought.

Death is when there is no more life.
So life after death is death.
So while we are dead, we must seek to be alive again.
Somehow.

I can't imagine being aware and not also thinking at the same time. If
you can, more power to ya.

Of what possible value is a set of previous lives for which we have not
a shread of memory and retain not a shread of experience??
