It's RUSKY-TASTIC

Aren't the Russians great!

- They got cute accents that everyone loves, they got those great
communist statues of working men and women just oozing gravitas, they
got a fabulously rich history, they have philosophers, great musicians,
and they're white - just like us!

And what a Rusky stroke of genius! Bush was offering Georgia a bully's
protection, selling it arms and THEN encouraging Georgia's lunatic
invasion of Ossetia to expand Western influence right on Russia's
doorstep. Then the Ruskies threw them out of Ossetia in just 5 days. Now
a belittled Bush is petulantly blaming Russia for Georgia's defeat in
Ossetia (er.. yes, George), while Bush's sidekick, the Georgian
president, hated by the South Ossetians, is seen world-wide as a bit of
a nut.

So I say its sheer Russian genius. And well done South Ossetia.

Certainly that's been the Cheney doctrine which is why U. S. approval
abroad has dropped precipitously.

Maybe, just maybe, being a hypocrit isn't an effective way to get your
message out.

Didn't they toss the Harvard "shock therapy" economist out about a
decade ago?

Maybe he knew where Putin was going and this is what finished him off.

The writer very shrewly proposed a scenario where the price of
hydrocarbon fuel collapsed. He must have shrewly missed the
discussion on peak oil. Or maybe he shrewly skipped class on the day
they studied supply and demand.

Everyone can agree we have a _unique_ POV here.

No, they just have a lot of what we want: Oil and gas.

When your opponent is a complete moron, you look like a genius.

Maybe Georgia should have worked a little more diligently to figger
out a way to placate or get rid of them. That's what politicians do
in _real_ democracies.

Of course, the word "democracy" today only means "oil pipeline."
