As I keep indicating, I think Libertarians are really hearkening back
to a time when there was unlimited land for the taking in North
America, because the vast majority of the native population had been
wiped out by European diseases to which they had no immunity. When
population density is low enough, and resources are plentiful enough,
all government really need do is keep out of people's way. Such is no
longer the situation in the United States.
