Is the human mind unique? Does it exist in and of itself or is it part
of a larger, collective Mind?

"Mind" is a folk lore theory on brain function, similar to the earth
being flat. Just as there were dragons being off the earth's edge,
there can be embellishments to the "mind" story, such as a
"larger, collective Mind".

Its probably unique in that it has everything to run apart from the
external world, but natural selection has probably left it in a state
where it needs an external environment to interact with in order to
function properly. It has come about by mutations and other changes in
the genes that direct the assembly of the nerves whos activities it
is. These activities are probably co-dependent upon an interaction
with the external world.

In my experience, both.
Both your own mind, which thinks to itself,
and the human psyche, which transcends all minds in the whole world.

Is a car unique?

Both. Depends on the perspective and the individual from time to time, and
the semantics.

Mind is a fundamental property of all matter. When matter is combined
into advanced systems the mind can do more things. The more advanced the
more it can do. The most advanced system is the Universe which we are an
integrated part of. The alternative to this view is that mind magically
appears out of nowhere at a certain point in evolution. Your choice,
magic or logic.

That drugs change the thought processes and behavior show that the
human mind is not as free as we would like to believe but subject to
the collective mind.

Absurd ideas like Folk lore theory, superstition, and 'dragons off the
earths edge', are popular inventions and cultural beliefs of scientists.
No-one else ever believed these ideas.

Much more likely that all primate folk have similar brain
structure, function, and chemistry, thus drug effects are
similar, and the fantasy folk lore interpretations are similar.
