...on some news site that the fact that humans exist to observe the
universe is a contriubitng factor in its demise, that rational beings
seeing things happen,
a la Heisenberg, cause an increase in entropy, making the universe
wear out quicker. How much quicker, I wonder.

sure you wont have to worry about it in your lifetime W : )
Plus you have to imagine phrases like "wear out quicker" only refer to
our monkey needs.
If the universe were packed back down to its virgin walnut state
before the big bang we'd all be crushed up and gooey looking.

If you got a box full of rocks and you shake em around alot, are you
saying that some of the rocks will somehow organize in a way that will

Is this why the perception of time 'quickens' as one gets older?
My life memories for the first 20 or so years is like a crammed suitcase
that won't close. My memories for the second 20, more like an orderly
footlocker. Now, the days pass so quick, I can hardly notice change in an
empty hall of echoes.
