Humanity....a force of matter

Author: Joseph Humming

In material terms we are a phenomenon. We are a force of matter.

The earliest peoples could not have seen this. They fashioned systems
of belief based on their own experience and their own creations. Thus,
when they encountered others in numbers they were unable to reach
out. We decry the men who forced cohabitation by coercion. In
reality, they were agents, unwitting or otherwise, of the human
colonisation of the planet.

The vast empires created brought stability and encouraged technology
- but at a cost of human freedom and even the concept of same..

In Europe, for various reasons, such empires failed to take hold.
Freedom remained a memory. Finally, around the 17th or 18th century
freedom became a possibility.

The world we see today is aproduct of such freedom. Freedom is our
current belief. But the very productivity permitted by freedom
threatens our place on ther planet. Once again, though, we are unable
to see beyond our current worldview. We are locked within our own very
limited concepts.
