Kucha, Arotiri, & Knossus were all highly developed urban architecture.
Its not what is there, its what is not: slums. Tripolye, on the Dneiper
below Kiev, is the oldest, mid 5th mil BC, and largest, but somewhat of
a stretch to call it a city.

It was a collection of villages and towns strung out along the river,
all built of timber frame. The space between them was deliberate so that
if one started on fire, which did happen, it didnt take out the whole
damn thing like Chicago. It was a string of industrial zones, tannery,
pottery, weaving, metal work, etc.

But again, no slums. There's one community that is hundreds of years old
in the Himalaya mtns of SW China that never had a slummy part of town
either. But all of the above were very active in trade, operating in
free markets, often dominating them. They were all also run by women.

It does not matter whether a system is extreme socialism or far right
wing capitalism, men will figure out how to corrupt it to get the status
symbols that will attract more pussy. Women in power dont have the
problem. They can get laid without having to control the bodies of men,
and when they have a kid, they dont worry about whether it is theirs.

As a result, they dont craft the draconian law to ensure progeny get the
correct support from parents. They dont pass laws against abortion, so
that every kid that is born, is there because the mother wanted it. As a
result, they dont have abused children growing up to become psychos. As
a result of that, they dont have the dysfunctional people you staff a
slum with. With women in charge, if a woman is crazy, they dont breed
her. They may, as Kucha did, draft her into the brothels owned by the
city. The profits from that replaced taxes.

You want a free market? Kucha knew how to do it. Most of the Silk that
left China for the West passed thru Kucha. the rest of it stayed there.
For hundreds of years, Kucha had the best dressed people in the world.
But no slums. They only bred smart sane women. And got smart sane sons.
Who got filthy rich. In the world's first transnational free market.
