This reminds me of an occasion, about 10 years ago, where I saw Prof.
Alan Dershowitz give a talk on the Constitution. Midway through he
intoned with great zeal that on the issue of slavery the Founding
Fathers were wrong. "They were wrong!", he exclaimed, and then he
paused for a few seconds, as if waiting for gasps of horror from the
audience over his heresy . . . which, to his momentarily visible
surprise, never came.
I never forgot that because, if nothing else, it revealed the way his
mind worked, and the period in which it was stuck. He really believed
he was saying something genuinely provocative and outrageous. It might
have caused a few eyebrows to fly north back in, say, 1955; but 1995?
No pulse could possibly quicken.

Too bad no one wanted to be your friend and
invite you to a party. A minor amoutn of self-
reflection may explain why this is happending.
Always time to improve.

What's 'thanksgiving'?
I may be Welsh, but I have no idea what it is. Here in Wales we have
proper celebrations. We celebrate the torture and death of guy fawkes
on Nov 5th, santa's birhday on the 25th of christmas, and we mock the
dead on halloween. Thanksgiving? is that a spielberg alien praise
thing?

Especially when it IS an English-impaired continental hayseed.

On this day, United States Americans give thanks for the Pilgrims, who
founded Plymouth Bay Colony, outlawed light entertainment outside the
home, & drank turkey on the rocks.
We commemmorate by doing all our banking that week by Wednesday -- or
pick it up again on Friday. Also, very few of us check our 401(k)
balances online on that day.
It's a great holiday! It usually features a USC football game, too.
