Governor Gets Into Mess Trying To Allegedly Fire A State Cop

Any resemblance of actual persons is the rhetorical point.

Once upon a time, there was an election campaign for an important
political office < hint , not cat catcher>

Pertinent history:

Ten years ago, an officially presiding politician was impeached by a
legislative body which was controlled by a poltical party poltically
opposed to that politician.

The successfully impeaching law makers stated that the politician had
committed perjury when he lied about a sexual allegation; and "it's
not about persecution for adultery."

Currrent situation

The Governor (apparently) denies telling a subordinate official to
fire a cop with which she allegedly has a personal (family)
conflict.
